Throughout the year, the kingdom comes alive with festivals and gatherings that honour our heritage and unite our people. These occasions are not spectacles alone; they are seasons of thanksgiving, remembrance, counsel, homecoming, and renewed obligation to the land.
Women's August Meeting
The annual gathering of daughters and wives of Nkwoegwu for development, welfare, and unity.
Ekpe Masquerade Festival
A solemn and vibrant expression of ancestral memory, performance, and cultural pride.
New Yam and Egwu Traditions
The New Yam Festival, observed within the wider Igbo cultural calendar, marks the beginning of a new harvest season. It is a time to give thanks, honour the ancestors, bless the harvest, and renew the bonds between families, villages, and the throne.
Nkwoegwu's name also preserves the memory of the annual Egwu festival, where founders of neighbouring clans gathered on this land for spiritual and cultural activities. That history gives the kingdom a distinctive place within the Ohuhu heritage of Umuahia North.
