HRM Eze Sir Chijioke James Chikwekwem Uga IV, Ezeoha of Nkwoegwu Autonomous Community, Afugiri
His Royal Majesty reigns as Ezeoha, traditional ruler and custodian of the customs, traditions, and unity of Nkwoegwu Autonomous Community. His reign continues the Uga throne from the royal village of Umuekwule Okpuala, where the Ezeoha Palace serves as the seat of counsel and community life.
Journey to the Throne
His Royal Majesty hails from the distinguished lineage of Okpuala Umuekwule in Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State. The prior official royal site records his education at Afugiri Primary School, Williams Memorial Secondary School, Afugiri, the Petroleum Training Institute in Warri, and the University of Port Harcourt, where he earned a degree in Petroleum Engineering.
Before ascending the throne, His Majesty built a long professional career in the petroleum industry, including service with Ashland Oil and Chevron/Texaco. He returned to community leadership with the discipline of a professional life and the obligations of a son of the soil. In 2020, following the wisdom of the kingmakers and the customs of the kingdom, he was selected and crowned Uga IV of Nkwoegwu Autonomous Community.
Vision & Achievements
His Majesty's reign is guided by a vision to preserve the kingdom's heritage while advancing development, education, health, and unity among all sons and daughters of Nkwoegwu, both at home and in the diaspora. Before and during his reign, the official archive records service in community development, including support for women’s economic activity, electricity and solar projects, scholarship assistance, church life, and peace-building.
